Why did you join? To give back to my hometown, born and raised in Virginia Beach, libraries were a part of my upbringing between cramming for exams and researching through college. Now, libraries are a community building spot for my family, with story-times, programs, and an immense digital and physical collection.

Why did you join? Libraries have always been my sanctuary. When I was a child, my mother would bring me to her job at a church after school. The pastor was a civil rights activist and an intellectual, and the shelves were filled with books on history, advocacy, and philosophy. I would sit there for hours, absorbing as much as I could. Joining this board has given me the opportunity to share that same joy, curiosity, and sense of possibility with others.
How long have they been on the Board? This is my first year on the board. Looking forward to more!
What is their favorite book? The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is my favorite thinker/philosopher book. Every time I read it, it offers something new and meaningful.
